- Meet The Artist -

I am an Award-Winning Kentucky Photographer. I attended college at Eastern Kentucky University from 1994-1998 taking classes in Photography and Art. This is where I really began 'to see'. I learned more about light and form in drawing, two dimentional and three dimentional sculpting, painting, ceramics and metalsmithing classes along with my photography clesses. I love seeing the way light falls on all types of objects whether that is a flower, a face or body ( a sheen on skin, fur or a car ). Photography is a life-long learning process. You can learn something new everyday for the entirety of your life, and still, there would be so much more to learn. I have enjoyed any type of photography I have tried from pinhole and large format to digital. Most of the fascination with photography is the learning process and seeing all the things you have worked on come together in the final outcome - usually, the print. Whether that is getting exactly what you saw in your minds eye, a lighting situation or catching that action or look at that precise moment, where you just know you've captured what you were looking for... or even better yet, when you've caught something great that you never even saw at the time you captured the image. What a thrill it can be.

I travel yearly to attend photography workshops to continue my education. I attend Equine, Wedding, Portrait and Lighting workshops whenever I can. I have a deep love of people, animals and nature and they tend to be my focus in photography. I sell Art Prints featuring my nature and scenic photography. One of my largest projects was photographing all of the Art Horses that were in Lexington a few years back.

I grew up here in Kentucky enjoying the surroundings that this wonderful and gorgeous state provides us. I started photographing with my mother's old Yashica camera at the age of 8. Living in Menifee County on the edge of Daniel Boone National Forest, Cave Run Lake and The Red River Gorge for most of my life, my love of nature and animals began even before moving to Kentucky. Horse back riding or hiking with my sister, fishing with my brother, camping and boating with my dad. These are some of things that have helped lead me into photography.

A dream came true for me when I meet my husband, James. I will never forget the love, happiness and excitement on my Wedding Day. I get my professional photos out several times a year to relive that magical day. I was joined for life with the most beautiful and wonder ful man on the earth. My biggest thrill since my marriage has been the experience of having my son and watching him grow and sharing all of these experiences with my husband. My son is now seven years old and a constant subject in front of my lens. He is not the typical 'smile, mommy is pointing the camera at you' child, he goes on with his business as usual.

That is what I want to capture, everyday moments, showing personality and intimacy. This is also what I feel should be a part of every Wedding or session I photograph. Not just snap shots or only the posed images, but a blend of capturing the story of what goes on during the day and documenting it, along with the group images with beautiful lighting. Finding the right location along with the right time for lighting can make a world of difference in how your images will look. This can make the difference in wanting hang the image on your wall or leaving it under the bed.

I am based in Kentucky but love to travel for whatever photography you may need. I have assistants who travel with me to help in whatever manner needed. Just call for a quote or for brochures at 859/200-6945 or E-mail me. Please call to set up a consultation or to check on dates available.
